General English vs Business English: Which Course Is Right for You?

Choosing the right English course in Malaysia depends on your goals. Two of our most popular programmes — General English and Business English — serve different needs. Here is how to decide.
General English: everyday fluency
Our six-level General English programme (Elementary to Advanced) builds speaking, listening, reading, and writing for daily life, travel, and further study. Ideal if you want broad fluency or plan to progress to IELTS later.
Business English: workplace communication
Business English focuses on meetings, presentations, professional emails, negotiation language, and industry vocabulary. Recommended for B1+ learners who already have basic English and need workplace skills.
Can I take both?
Yes — many students complete General English levels first, then add Business English or IELTS preparation. Our placement test ensures you start at the right level.

A simple decision rule
If you cannot yet hold a ten-minute conversation about your weekend, start in General English. If you already can, and your pain is emails, meetings, or presentations, take Corporate / Business English. If your pain is a band score, take IELTS or PTE. Mixing all three in week one is how students stall. Placement exists to stop that. You can stack programmes later — many students do General then IELTS, or General then corporate workshops claimable under HRD Corp.
What to do this week
If you are comparing schools in Kuala Lumpur, do three things before you pay a deposit. Visit the campus if you are already in Malaysia — Megan Avenue 2 is public and easy to reach from Ampang Park LRT. Sit in a class if the school allows it.
